The Borrups’ driveway gate was the victim of a navigational error by one of their houseguests. One leaf had a cracked frame and a badly broken slat.
The damage was unsightly, but not structurally critical. After consulting with Mrs. Borrup, we began an in situ welding operation instead of replacing the whole leaf. We used a set of car jacks to hold the gate in place and support it while we bent and welded the frame bar back together. We replaced and welded in a new iron slat to replace the smashed one.
